The amazing concert of the great, world-renowned Italian composer Ennio Morricone, the remarkable performance of Hungarian philharmonic orchestra “Gyor”, Macedonian Opera and Ballet Choir and soprano Susanna Rigacci marked late Sunday the opening of the 49^th “Ohrid Summer” festival.

Festival patron, President Gjorge Ivanov formally opened the festival, reminding the Antique Theatre audience that culture and art are the soul of nations, whereas dialogue and competition are the world’s future.

Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska, accompanied by director of the Culture Heritage Administration director Pasko Kuzman and Bitola Mayor Vladimir Taleski visited antique site Heraclea Lyncestis on July 12.

Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska and Polish Minister for Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski met today in Warsaw and signed the 2009-2011 Program for culture cooperation between the two ministries.

Two US choirs and one choir each from Saudi Arabia, Congo and the Philippines took part in the festival.

Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska opened the festival, saying it is of enormous significance for enhancement of the cooperation between the Macedonian and French cinematographies.

The most famous composer of film score in the 20th century, Ennio Morricone will open the 49th edition of the largest cultural event in Macedonia, “Ohrid Summer”.

Morricone has created film themes for over 400 films in the past few decades. The great composer comes with the Budapest Symphonic Orchestra, accompanied by the Macedonian Opera and Ballet Choir.
